Lighting up stars for EKFH

With the arrival of the holiday season just around the corner, it’s also that time of year when the East Kootenay Foundation for Health begins its plans for the annual Starlite Campaign to light 17 beautiful stars atop the regional hospital.

Thanks to the continued support of the star sponsor, East Kootenay Community Credit Union the 4th annual campaign will launch at 5 p.m. on November 24 outside the hospital.   EKC has made another three-year $15,000 commitment to EKFH and health care in the region with its generous sponsorship of $5,000 per year and the annually lighting of the first star.

Jody Burk, CEO of EKC, states, “We have given back $100,000 in our communities and offered numerous volunteer hours thanks to the support of the members who bank at EKC.

Diane Baher Senior Manager of Cranbrook Services at EKC notes, “Our members value health care services based on feedback and surveys and in turn we are thrilled to support EKFH, the Starlite Campaign and the digital stereotactic mammography project.”

This year the brilliant blue stars takes on a special meaning with a fundraising goal of raising $100,000 and lighting the 17 stars (lit at every $5,000 increment of donations).  If the $100,000 goal is met the foundation and it’s amazing Starmakers hope to light an extra large star on the highest peaked roof at the hospital that can be seen from the downtown area of Cranbrook.

East Kootenay Foundation for Health is also encouraging donors who wish to support the Starlite Campaign, and who may not have a specific cause in mind, to dedicate their gift toward the A Clear View project to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the regional hospital.

Of course, donors may always dedicate their donation to an area of care or a department that means something special to them.  Over the past three years donations have been received and given as gifts for the person who has everything, in memory of loved ones, thank you surprises, because I love you and even grateful patients.

“Since the first launch of the Starlite Campaign, the lighting of the stars has not only provided a beautiful holiday centerpiece for the regional hospital; the stars and the funds it’s been blessed with has played a significant part of the foundation’s ability to provide funding for a variety of equipment and patient comforts throughout the East Kootenay Region not just the regional hospital,” states Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director.  To make a donation to the Starlite Campaign or the A Clear View Campaign visit www.ekfh.ca orwww.aclearview.ca.
