Arby’s supports EKFH Starlite Campaign
Just over a year ago, Arby’s Restaurant of Cranbrook held its grand re-opening with a few members of the Kootenay ICE coming out to pour coffee and share autographs.
“At Arby’s we plan on every October 15 to have a customer appreciation day with proceeds going to a local charity. My wife Sandra had mentioned that Drew, Max & Jesse of the ICE were trying to light a star for the foundation’s annual Starlite Campaign. So us owners, Brian, Scott, Sandra and I decided to show our appreciation to help light that star and raise money for the hospital,” explains Kevin Juhasz, co-owner.
The recent two-day Arby’s fundraiser with proceeds from the sale of delicious regular roast beef sandwiches has the Arby’s owners making a $500 contribution to the player’s ‘Shoot for the Star’. The gift also compliments the fundraising efforts of the East Kootenay Foundation for Health to bring a digital stereotactic mammography unit to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
“Paying it forward, saying thanks and remembering the goodness of others is what this story is all about. The gratitude shown by Kevin and the Arby’s team to help light a star and bring in additional funds for the digital mammography fund is simply incredible,” shares Donna Grainger, EKFH Executive Director.
The Starlite Campaign for Excellence in Health Care will launch on November 24 with a goal to light 17 stars and raise $100,000 by the end of January 2012. Donations to the Starlite Campaign are encouraged to be directed to the digital stereotactic mammography fund.
