24th annual Jaffray Fall Fair
The community of Jaffray again welcomes everyone to their annual Fall Fair this coming weekend, September 21-23.
Starting Friday night the annual “Red Neck’ car rally hosted by Bob Prowse from RMP engines will start at 6 p.m. at the Jaffray Community Hall. There will be prizes for the best Red Neck costume and entry fee is $5. For more information contact Pam Gorrie at 429-3528.
Also for all those creative folks we have a Bench Show running inside the hall. Entries are to be dropped off between 6:30-8 p.m. and judging will commence at 8pm. Categories include Artwork, Photography, Crafts, Woodwork, Needlework, Sewing, Canning Baking, Flowers, Fruit, Garden Produce & Largest Grown items.
Arise early on Saturday for the annual ‘Fun Run’ at 8 a.m. This 6k run is open to all ages and everyone is welcome. For more information contact Marla Jones 429-3355 or Melissa Fahselt 429-4065. Medals are awarded in 4 categories. A $5 entry fee gives you a $2 off breakfast coupon for after the race.
The Sand Creek Lady Lions pancake breakfast runs from 8:30-11 a.m. Don’t miss out on this appetizing way to start your day.
Enjoy the Farmer’s Market after breakfast and roam the Fair grounds or check out the Slo-Pitch Tournament at the ball diamonds. Our Jaffray Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an Open House from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. with a Vehicle Rescue demonstration at 2:30 p.m.
The parade will commence at 11:30 a.m. and is always a hit with the various participants. Don’t miss the logging truck of wood that will be raffled off. Also watch for the Duck that will be selling tickets for the annual Duck Race in Sand Creek or stop by the Jaffray Sports & Hardware Store.
After the parade you can wander onto the grounds to partake in the various vendors for the Farmers Market as well as watch the Slo-Pitch tournament, Bocce Tournament, Crib Tournament, kids games and Bouncy House plus music throughout the day from DJ Lily.
In the Hall during the afternoon a slideshow & Silent Auction will be presented by Jaffray Elementary School Students. The 2012 grade 10 grads visited Peru on a school trip and are now raising money through a silent auction to help the Peru schools.
Saturday night the Community Club will be hosting a Steak Dinner and Dance. Cocktails at 6pm followed by dinner and dance. DJ Lily will again host a kids dance from 8 - 9 p.m. as all minors have to leave at 9.
Sunday is the ever popular Bingo at the hall. Doors open at 12: 30 p.m.
Five p.m. draws the weekend to a close with the 18th annual Duck Race. Come out and see who’s duck wins.
