The Maverick Riding Club would like to thank the following companies for their very generous donations of their time, sand and trucking service to add new footing to Idlewild Arena.

Ministry of Transportation – sand, RDEK – sand, Alfred Hummel Contractor LTD - trucking

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting LP – trucking, Hardy Construction Services LTD – sand & trucking, BA Blacktop – sand & trucking, Salvador Ready Mix Concrete LP – sand & trucking.

Idlewild arena has been in the community for many years and was completely rebuilt in 2008 by the Maverick Riding Club with the support and generous donations from the community. This week, we added 12 dump truck loads of sand to soften the ground.

The arena is available free of charge to the public however the regular user clubs do charge their members a minimal $1 per horse, per use, fee to compensate for maintenance.

The regular user groups are the Maverick Riding Club, Kootenay Barrel Racing Association, and Cranbrook 4-H Multi Club Horse Group. The Maverick riding club always welcomes new members in both English and Western disciplines.

The club has monthly gymkhanas from April thru October, weekly skill development nights, annual fall horseshow, hosts various clinics, group trail rides and overnight camp outs, yearend awards banquet, supplies animals and volunteers for the SPCA  Kids Club, parades, and has participated in drill team performances at Fort Steele. Feel free to enjoy the new footing of this beautiful facility at Idlewild Park.
