Animal Planet, Eco Adventure and Super Soaking are coming to town! This is not a travelling circus, but ‘Summer in the City Camps’ at College of the Rockies in Kimberley. Just in time to catch summer at its best, children age 6 to 11 can have fun and meet new friends while learning and building self-esteem.

Summer in the City day camps, which receive support and funding from the City of Kimberley, will run July 4 to August 26 with eight camps, each offering a new theme with fun-filled activities, games, arts, and crafts.

Camp coordinator Krista Wunsch has a Bachelor of Education degree and has taught for all of Kimberley’s schools as a teacher on call. Her passion for teaching and learning has given her a wide range of experience working with children of all ages. Wunsch brings a wealth of knowledge to this program with innovative and creative ideas to make camp an experience that every child will cherish. She has been with Summer in the City day camps  in Kimberley for the past two years and is excited for this summers’ adventures.

“Our camps are run by highly qualified staff, who plan fun, engaging activities for the children based on weekly themes” Wunsch noted. “They’re engaged in activities from 9 am to 3:30 pm with supervised play during drop-off and collection periods between 8 and 9 am and 3:30 and 4 pm. Along with creativity and imagination, participants need to bring lunches, snacks drink and swim gear.”

Parents/guardians can choose to register their child by the week or by the day. An early registration fee will be granted to those who register by noon, Wednesday before the following week. Register at the Kimberley Campus located in the former Blarchmont Elementary School at 1850 Warren Avenue. For more information email: aspedaler@cotr.bc.ca or phone: 250-427-7116 ext: 3752.
