Max Ryan tapped for "Sex and the City" sequel

By Gregg Kilday

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In the currently filming sequel to "Sex and the City," Kim Cattrall's Samantha will eye a new hunk in the form of Max Ryan.

The English actor is stepping into the role of Rikard, a European architect who crosses paths with Samantha.

The central quartet of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are all returning for the new film.

Ryan most recently appeared in Paul W.S. Anderson's "Death Race." His credits also include the Polish feature "Skorumpowani," the horror film "Three" and "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," in which he appeared as Dante.

Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed the first film based on the long-running television series, is reprising his roles on "Sex and the City 2." Warner Bros.' New Line label has begun shooting the feature in New York.
