A successful Starlite
On the morning of February 1, the beautiful blue stars atop the East Kootenay Regional Hospital were turned off as the Starlite Campaign for Excellence in Health Care came to an end for another year.
On November 24 the East Kootenay Community Credit Union (the campaign’s Star Sponsor) continued their second three-year sponsorship with the annual lighting of the first star to lead the fundraising drive to light all 17 stars while raising the donations goal from $85,000 to $100,000.
And like always the citizens, organizations and communities in the East Kootenay did not disappoint.
By the end of January all 17 of the wondrous handcrafted stars were lit and although the full fundraising goal wasn’t met, the generosity of many brought in $93,961 in additional funding for many areas of care throughout the region.
Donna Grainger, Executive Director for EKFH reports the breakout of gifts to the following areas of care:
• General (unrestricted): $325
• Arthritis: $100
• George Fox (oncology): $25
• Golden Hospital: $150
• Invermere Hospital: $400
• Creston Hospital: $825
• Creston Hospital Pediatrics: $10
• Pediatrics: $2565
• Digital Stereotactic Mammography: $89,661
Whether it is the digital mammography campaign, the regional hospital or one of the other regional facilities that received a donation, it is the value and belief of many donors that making a gift to health care can truly assist in the quality of care provided here in the East Kootenay.
East Kootenay Foundation for Health sincerely thanks all those who generously gave this holiday season. The annual lighting of the stars will return in November of 2012.
