Strong second period pushes Ice past Saskatoon 6-3

Kootenay heads into the third period up 5-1 over Saskatoon.

Dom Pacovsky gets a solid shot on net, then gets another chance on his own rebound. Saskatoon goalie Adam Morrison manages to keep the puck out.

Joe Antilla hits the boards awkwardly and slowly gets up and gets to the bench.

Jeremy Boyer gets a breakaway chance for the Blades but misses the net wise to Mathews right side.

Brent Benson scores with a blast into an empty net, after Mathews is trapped on the far side of the crease after diving to make a save on Walker Wintonek.

The goal cuts the Ice lead to 5-2 with

Saskatoon gets another one shortly after as Jeremy Boyer knocks the puck in the net of a centering pass from Lukas Sutter.

Ice look to be scrambling with about nine minutes left after giving up two quick goals in the third.

Ryan Molle gets a good chance and then, with Morrison on the ice, Christian Magnus shoots wide.

Steele Boomer scores on a breakaway deke as he goes upstairs with the backhand for his 23rd goal of the season to put Kootenay up 6-3 at 15:18 of the third period.

Mathews makes a solid save on a strong blast from Jyri Niemi of the Blades.

Ismond gets a wide open shot on net on a power play chance very late in the game, but Morrison slides over for the save.

Final scores see Kootenay beat Saskatoon 6-3.
